 Jean is a character in The Walking Dead: Splatterpunk first introducted in the chapter "Days Gone Bye", through Rick's thoughts. She has a husband and is the mother of Lori and the grandmother of Carl Grimes. Rick is her son-inlaw.

Pre-Apocalypse

Almost nothing is known about Jean's life before the apocalypse began. She had a daughter, Lori, and an unnamed husband. Sometime before the apocalypse, Jean fell ill with an unknown form of cancer. The doctors were able to catch it early, however, and were able to remove it. She was hospitalized in Harrison Memorial Hospital. After her surgery, Jean taught her grandson, Carl, how to play the guitar and gave him regular lessons.

Post-Apocalypse

It is unknown what happened to Jean after the apocalypse began. It is assumed, through an interview with one of the author's assistants, that Jean lived in Atlanta, an area which was heavily affected by the rising dead. Due to the fact that she was elderly, and all routes out of Atlanta were blocked, that she remained in the city. Her fate, and the fate of her husband, is unknown.

Trivia

• Jean is one of two known people to play an instrument, and that being the same instrument as the other person, the guitar. The other person is her grandson, Carl Grimes.
• It has been revealed that Jean's only appearance in the series will be through speech and thought, and not in any physical form, leaving her status as unknown. Her fate will never be revealed.
